Vicky B. Gregg

Vicky B. Gregg became CEO of BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee February, 2003. Before becoming CEO, Ms. Gregg served as President and Chief Operating Officer, overseeing all aspects of the company’s day-to-day operations. The not-for-profit company serves over 4 million customers, with 4,300 employees and annualized revenues of over $12.9 billion in claims paid.

A nurse by education, Mrs. Gregg has a diverse health care background that included clinical care, hospital administration, long term care, and over fifteen years of experience in healthcare benefits and financing. She served as President and CEO of Volunteer State Health Plan, a subsidiary of BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee and one of the largest Medicaid Health Maintenance Organizations in the country. Prior to joining BlueCross, Mrs. Gregg served as a Regional Vice President, Humana in Kentucky and Ohio and represented all models of managed care, including preferred provider, staff, group, and academic models. She has been a noted speaker on healthcare market evolution, implications of managed care for academic medicine, Medicaid managed care, rural health care delivery, and health care reform policy implications related to the uninsured.

Mrs. Gregg serves on numerous boards and organizations including the BlueCross BlueShield Association, Health Policy & Legislation Committee, American Association of Health Plans, Medicaid Executive Committee, Vice Chairman of the Chattanooga Regional Health Council, Tennessee Center for Nursing, Board of Directors, Downtown Rotary Club of Chattanooga, Allied Arts of Chattanooga, Board of Directors, United Way of Chattanooga Board of Directors; Chamber of Commerce Task Force "Forging our Future", East Tennessee State University; Adjunct Faculty Member, Department of Nursing, Women’s Leadership Institute, Advisory Group, Houston Museum, Board of Directors, Blood Assurance Foundation, Board of Directors, and the Community Education Alliance. She has also served on numerous appointed commissions including the Governor's Roundtable.

Mrs. Gregg is married to Dr. Fred Gregg, III, an ophthalmic surgeon, and has two children
