Joan L. Creasia, PhD, RN Joan Creasia has been Dean and Professor at the University of Tennessee College of Nursing since 1995. Prior to her present position she was Associate Dean, Interim Dean and Professor at Medical University of South Carolina, Charleston, South Carolina as well as the Chair, RN-BSN Program. She also held the position of Director, Statewide Programs Assistant/Associate Professor at the University of Maryland School of Nursing, Baltimore, Maryland for over ten years. Dr. Creasia received her BSN from University of Vermont,
her MSN from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, TN and her PhD
from the University of Maryland at Baltimore Nursing. Dr. Creasia has been recognized with several awards including Doody’s Quarterly 5-star rating for Conceptual Foundations of Professional Nursing Practice, 2nd ed., 1996; American Journal of Nursing Book of the Year Award for Conceptual Foundations of Professional Nursing Practice, 1992 and Outstanding Leadership Award, Maryland Nurses’ Association, 1990.
