Vichot Sánchez, PhD, RN
Zoila Vichot Sánchez holds a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Florida International University (FIU), master’s degree in nursing administration from Union University, Jackson TN and an adult care nurse practitioner certificate from FIU. She is currently a doctoral (PhD) student at University of Tennessee Health Science Center, Memphis College of Nursing. Her dissertation will be on instrument development; testing the reliability and validity of a new instrument (FoodWizard™). A hand held device designed to assist individuals in healthier food choices and with dietary adherence. Her program of research focuses on improving health outcomes in the Hispanic population through (a) health promotion, (b) culturally sensitive interventions, and (c) rigorous research. Her other interests are nursing recruitment, education, and mentoring. She currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Tennessee Center for Nursing (TCN) and serves on the Research Committee of the TCN. She has been invited to join the Diabetes Advisory Committee for the State of Tennessee and the Network of Minority Research Investigators (NMRI) establish by the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK). She is also a Helene Fuld Health Policy Leadership Fellow. She is member of the American Nurses Association, Sigma Theta Tau International, and the National Association of Hispanic Nurses. She resides in Trenton, TN with her husband & partner, Dr. Rafael Sanchez and sons Henry & Alex. |
