A. Dubree, RN, MSNMs. Dubree is the Associate Hospital Director for Patient Care Services and Chief Nursing Officer for Vanderbilt University Medical Center. She is responsible for clinical and professional leadership for Vanderbilt University Hospital and Clinics, Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital, the Psychiatric Hospital at Vanderbilt. Ms. Dubree is currently involved in robust strategic initiatives related to nurse recruitment and retention, shared governance, nurse wellness, manager development and innovations in staffing and workforce issues. She is also leading the current VUMC initiative for inpatient documentation and clinical process improvement, E5. Ms. Dubree has been at Vanderbilt University Medical Center since 1976. Prior to this she worked in clinical positions in Kentucky and at the Medical College of Georgia. Since her arrival at VUMC, she has held positions as Clinical Nurse Specialist, Director of Surgical Nursing, Director of Operational Improvement and her present position of Associate Hospital Director and CNO. She also serves as Associate Dean for Clinical Practice for the Vanderbilt University School of Nursing. She is widely recognized for her leadership in nursing and healthcare. Ms. Dubree earned her Masters Degree in Nursing from Vanderbilt University, her Baccalaureate degree from the Medical College of Georgia and her ADN from Western Kentucky University. member of the American Nurses’ Association, Tennessee Nurses’
Association, American Organization of Nurse Executives, and Sigma Theta
